Security expert to address business groups Thursday
Special to Business Matters
Local companies have two chances Thursday to get the latest advice from business security expert Brent Huston, CEO of MicroSolved Inc. and a consultant to Fortune 500 firms.
At 8 a.m., he is the featured speaker at the monthly Business Nuts & Bolts breakfast program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. The program, presented by Florida Commerce Credit Union and sponsored by CenturyLink, takes place at the civic center.
Huston's topic is “Small Business 101: Securing Your Data–It’s More Important Than Locking Your Doors.” He will offer advice for companies based on his 15 years of consulting work and security evaluations for Fortune 500 firms. For more information, visit www.talchamber.com.
At 11:30 a.m., Huston will address the monthly Tallahassee Technology Alliance luncheon, tailoring his remarks for the IT professionals.
“New technologies bring new opportunities for security threats. In a world that relies heavily on technology, it is crucial to know how to target weak points in the defense against attacks. It’s important to learn how to implant practical applications of IT security practices to strengthen our efforts against threats,” said James Tillman, TalTech’s chair elect.
TalTech's luncheon is at the downtown TCC Capitol Center, 300 W. Pensacola St., and is expected to last from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no cost for TalTech members; non-members pay $20 or can join TalTech at the door. For more on the meeting, go to www.taltech.org and click on “upcoming events.”
